Ashen Dawn
US Mechanised Infantry disembarking near NATO positions in former Alfeld 12.07.199X

The nuclear exchange was brief and, by a grim stroke of luck, confined to the North European Plain. As the mushroom clouds faded and radioactive fallout began to settle over the ruins, both NATO and the nations of the Minsk Pact rushed to occupy the devastated territory. Neither side could afford to let the other establish a foothold in the wasteland and the race to reclaim ground zero had begun before the radiation and fires had even gone out. The opening offensives had seen giant armored formations clash across the plains of Central Europe, with entire divisions committed to battles that could decide the fate of nations. In sectors where the lines collapsed, and enemy armour threatened to pour through unchecked, local commanders or desperate national governments reached for the nuclear option. Some did so to halt an advance. Others did so simply because they had nothing left to lose.

Years have passed since the fighting began, and neither side has yet resorted to a full-scale strategic nuclear strike against the other's heartland. The exchange remains, for the most part, a frontline affair, contained by the grim understanding that crossing that threshold could mean the end of everything. The great armoured offensives are a distant memory, their wreckage rusting along highways and in the fields where they fell. What remains is a war fought by groups of infantrymen endlessly fighting over the remnants of what once resembled something more than a pile of dirt and mud. Large concentrations of troops have become significant liabilities as every significant counterattack is met with a nuclear strike. This has led to the formation of an extensive no-man’s-land along the former frontlines. Scattered throughout it are small, fortified outposts and isolated garrisons, serving as an early-warning network against any major enemy offensive. These positions are rarely strong enough to hold against a determined assault; their purpose is to detect, delay, and report enemy movements long enough for the rearward forces to respond.

Briefing

Your Platoon is to relieve a chain of fortifications designated as ECHO POINT. You are to join up with a supply run that will depart from FOB BRAVE. You will receive additional briefing before you move out. Word is that the Minsk Pact will try to launch multiple small-scale attacks on the line; NATO is preparing to reinforce the line and try to assemble a counterattack that won't go over the nuclear threshold.

Extra

This is a chaotic casual op with some serious elements mostly there for RP. While the main point is to have fun make sure others are also having fun.

The op will consist of multiple areas of engagement; every time you accomplish an objective in one area, you are immediately moved to another one after a brief briefing/cutscene. There is a planned break in the middle of the op.

Objectives are very straightforward and linear with set boundaries; on most occasions you can only move via certain paths with limited possibility of flanking.

Taking enemy weapons and clothing is prohibited with the exception of basic AKs and, of course, throwables. However, due to limited view distance, fog, pollution and general chaos, you might end up being shot by your own guys.

Off-map and air support will sometimes be available.
