Operation Black Coffee

Briefing

Months after the Russian full scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 the Russian advance has slowed. In the east both sides are digging in and the Russian advance has slowed to a steady crawl. In the late summer Ukraine launched their Kharkiv and Kherson offensives, liberating large areas held by Russia since the start of the war. Following this increased Ukrainian pressure Russia has started preparing their own offensives hoping to open a new front. Russian troop presence in Transnistria has exploded over winter and spring. The most intact units of the Russian airborne VDV have been transferred alongside regular Russian Army with smaller detachments of special forces.

Four days ago during the early morning hours Russian airborne troop crossed the border from Transnistria into Ukraine seizing a military Airport close to the Dnestr bank. Following an intense firefight the Ukrainian defenders were forced to pull back leaving an opening for the Russian Army to cross the border and reinforce the airfield.

The battle hardened and experienced Ukrainian 47th Mechanized Brigade was quickly transferred from the east to reinforce the Ukrainian TDF currently holding the frontline attempting to contain the Russian advance. The 47th are tasked with delaying the Russian advance, break the tip of the spear and seize the initiative by counter attacking, driving a spearhead along the main highway currently supplying the Russian forces in the area.
